5 Easter Patents

Easter comes around again, and inventions keep coming, too! Intellectual property is everywhere in our daily lives, often in places where we would least expect it. In the Easter spirit, we bring you five patents with Easter themes to think about how much patents permeate our lives. Take a look at these fascinating ideas:

Hinged plastic Easter egg

Abstract
A hollow, plastic Easter egg constructed of two halves connected together by a plastic living hinge of unitary construction with the two halves being retained in closed position by a latch structure in the form of a continuous peripheral rib and peripheral groove on telescoping end portions of the two halves so that the hinge line of separation between the two halves are substantially concealed. The two halves of the Easter egg may be opened or closed to enable candy, toys, figurines or any other items desired to be placed therein so that they will appear to be inaccessible but yet the egg can be opened to provide access to the items interiorly thereof with the unitary hinge retaining the two halves of the egg in connected relation when the two halves are hinged to their open position.

Easter egg decorating and color kit

Abstract
An Easter egg decorating and coloring kit for dyeing and painting Easter eggs and including an arrangement of dye chambers integrally formed and arranged in a linear orientation. A paint tray having paint receptacles and a paintbrush receptacle for placement of a paintbrush therein is integrally formed with and extends outwardly from a rear top edge of the dye chambers. A ladle for placement and removal of the Easter eggs from within the dye chambers is removably supported on a front of the dye chambers and includes an envelope attached to a head portion thereof containing dye tablets of a variety of colors to be dissolved within the chambers to form a dye solution.

Easter egg decorating device

Abstract
An Easter egg decorating device is provided which securely holds an egg so that the entire surface thereof may be colored in a coloring bath and which is used in conjunction with a pattern which leaves an area of the egg defined by the pattern uncolored. The decorating device includes a pair of substantially oval shaped cylindrical segments having a yieldable absorbent diaphragm covering an open mouth of each, the segments are adjustably interconnected so that they are substantially axially aligned with the diaphragm covered mouths thereof facing each other, the adjustment permitting the axial distance between the segments to be varied.

Rotating egg coloring device

Abstract
An egg coloring device with means to hold and rotate an egg. The coloring takes place when a coloring means is held against a rotating egg. An indexing drive allows drawing lines parallel to the axis of the egg, spaced equally apart. Templates placed next to the egg allow drawing of uniform patterns.

Method of manufacture of hollow chocolate articles

Abstract
A hollow chocolate article such as an Easter egg is formed by inverting a molded chocolate shell upon another shell in respective molds, the lower shell having been previously formed with an inner coating layer e.g., of chocolate, while the inverted upper shell is provided with an inner coating layer which is still in a fluid state when the shells are superimposed, so that some of the material of the inverted inner layer flows on to and is welded to the peripheral surface of the previously formed inner layer of the lower shell, to form an internal seam without discoloration.
